TextileGenesis adds Haelixa forensics to transparency solution

This update to the TextileGenesis solution is designed to allow brands and suppliers to access and verify scientific evidence of material authenticity from the initial fibre stage through to retail.

The move comes through a partnership between TextileGenesis and Haelixa, aligning physical forensic verification with digital record-keeping.

The integration links Haelixa’s forensic DNA markers, which are applied directly to textile fibres, with the TextileGenesis blockchain-inspired chain of custody.

This system is built to address persistent risks within the textile industry, such as fibre adulteration, blending, and false claims about high-value materials including organic cotton, recycled fibres, and cashmere.

By combining physical DNA markers with transparent digital documentation, the two companies aim to strengthen supply chain transparency and mitigate the risk of non-compliance as global regulations on material traceability and sustainability claims increase.

Industry regulators are putting greater emphasis on evidence-based sustainability assertions.

The new feature within TextileGenesis supports brands and suppliers in responding to these developments by offering a unified system for uploading and verifying scientific certificates.

TextileGenesis founder and CEO Amit Gautam said: “Supply chain transparency demands both depth and integrity. This integration with Haelixa is a powerful example of how digital and physical traceability methods can complement one another. It allows brands to consolidate all traceability data, transactional, certified, and forensic, into a single, trusted system of record.”

Haelixa stated that its DNA-based traceability solution enables textile brands to verify the authenticity of materials and track product origins from the fibre stage to the finished garment.

Haelixa founder and chief technology officer Gediminas Mikutis said: “By embedding natural DNA markers at the fibre level, we offer forensic proof of origin. When paired with TextileGenesis’ digital platform, brands gain unprecedented visibility and assurance over the authenticity of their materials throughout the supply chain.”

Haelixa is supported by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and supplies traceability solutions to clients including C&A, OVS, and Hugo Boss. According to its sales records, the company tracked over 30m garments globally in 2024.

TextileGenesis, founded in 2018 and now part of Lectra, operates a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform that enables fashion brands and sustainable textile suppliers to track textiles, leather, and footwear from origin to consumer.
