ARLINGTON — It appears Evan Carter will get the full weekend off.
At least.
Manager Bruce Bochy indicated that Carter, who left Friday’s game with a sore right wrist, would probably not start before Tuesday’s series opener against Kansas City, at the earliest. That would give him a three-day breather. It could be longer.
After Carter reported “pretty good soreness” in the wrist on Saturday morning, the Rangers sent him for further diagnostics, Bochy said. The club had not received any word on those images by game time Saturday. With Carter out of the lineup, Wyatt Langford moved over to center and Sam Haggerty took over in left.

Carter injured the wrist during a diving fourth-inning catch Friday. He remained in the game for another at-bat, but left in the seventh inning.

“I wasn’t doing myself or the team any good taking staying in the game,” Carter said after the game. “It didn’t feel the best. But I think it will be fine.”
The Rangers are also going to act with extreme caution in the case of Carter. While the wrist is not related to his back, which has been troublesome in the past, the Rangers don’t want any injury with him to linger. He has already had one stint on the IL this year due to a strained quad. Because of injuries, he’s played in only 20 of the team’s 35 games since he was originally recalled on May 6.
