Tether and Bitqik launched a financial education program on Bitcoin and stablecoins in Laos, with nationwide deployment scheduled for all of 2026. The initiative is structured through a partnership with Bitqik, a locally licensed digital asset exchange, which will act as the operator and coordinator of the educational activities.
The program aims to reach more than 10,000 people through a combination of online content and in-person events. The activities include quarterly seminars, community roadshows, and digital materials aimed at students, entrepreneurs, and users interested in digital assets. The cities included in the in-person activity schedule are Vientiane, Pakse, Vang Vieng, and Luang Prabang.
Bitqik will develop the educational content and lead local execution through Bitqik Academy. The materials address the use of Bitcoin and stablecoins in specific operational contexts, with a focus on payments, savings, transfers, and commercial activity. The content also covers blockchain technology fundamentals and responsible digital asset usage practices.
USDT plays a central role within the program. The educational sessions focus on how the stablecoin works, its issuance mechanics, and its use within the digital economy. The project aims to promote operational knowledge of USD₮ among local users and encourage its use in everyday applications.
The program is limited to educational and outreach activities, with no announcements of financial products, commercial launches, or additional technical integrations. No regulatory changes or agreements with public entities were disclosed.
Tether participates as a strategic partner in the program and will support the initiative at the institutional level. The company frames the collaboration within its financial education agenda and its focus on access to digital tools. Bitqik, for its part, provides local infrastructure, event logistics, and the adaptation of content to the Laotian market.
