Ireland is set to see temperature peaks of 25C this week – and it could get even warmer.
The country is set to bask in the summer sunshine this week, with temperatures regularly getting into the 20s. And, according to one weather boffin, there is a “chance of even hotter air pushing over Ireland from late next weekend”.
Weather Alerts Ireland said: “Still looking good for some warmer weather this week, temperatures of 24 or even 25C on Friday!
“A chance of even hotter air pushing over Ireland from late next weekend! Still some uncertainty on this so watch this space.”
Dublin today will be dry, with long spells of sunshine. Temperatures will get up to 22C with moderate to fresh southwest winds.
There will be some patchy rain overnight tonight, with lows of 11C. And while there will be a risk of some showers during the week – this is Ireland, after all – we are in for a mostly “dry and fine” week, according to Met Eireann.
Here is what the national forecaster has to say:
Overview: Lots of dry and fine weather this week but with the chance of a few showers.
Tuesday: On Tuesday, patchy rain and drizzle will clear southeastwards in the morning as dry and bright weather extends from the northwest. The rest of the day will be dry and bright with spells of warm sunshine. Highest temperatures of 19 to 21 degrees in moderate southwest to west winds.
Tuesday night: It will be generally dry on Tuesday night but there is the chance of patchy rain in north Connacht and west Ulster for a time. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in light southwest or variable winds.
Wednesday: Many areas will be dry on Wednesday with sunny spells. However, it will be cloudier at times across north Connacht and Ulster with a few patches of rain or drizzle possible. Top temperatures ranging from 16 to 22 degrees, coolest in the north and warmest in the south. It will be dry with mostly clear skies on Wednesday night. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in light southeast or variable winds.
Thursday: Thursday will be a dry and warm day across the country with lots of summer sunshine. Maximum temperatures will generally range from 20 to 24 degrees but it will be a little cooler on eastern coasts due to an onshore easterly breeze. It will be largely dry on Thursday night but a few showers may develop in the southwest overnight. A humid night with lowest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees in light southeast winds.
Friday: It looks set to be a warm and humid day on Friday with sunny spells. Highest temperatures will range from 20 to 24 degrees, with warmest values in Connacht and west Ulster. There’ll be a moderate southeasterly breeze on Friday.
Weekend: Staying warm and humid with sunny spells but a few heavy showers may develop in some areas.
