A teenager has been jailed after stabbing a schoolboy in the stomach. Benjamin Porter appeared at Chester Crown Court for sentencing.
The 19-year-old had earlier pleaded guilty to attempt wounding with intent, possession of a knife and child abduction. The court heard how police were called at around 5.30pm on Saturday, December 7 last year following reports that a 15-year-old boy had been stabbed in the stomach following an altercation on Woodpecker Drive, Northwich.
Following enquiries, officers identified Porter, of Meadow Grove, Northwich, as the suspect and he was arrested later that day.
While on bail for the stabbing, Porter was also arrested for breaching a Child Abduction Warning Notice in connection with an unrelated matter.
He was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Connor McGregor said: “Porter’s actions were totally unacceptable, and the sentence handed to him is reflective of his actions that day.
“Teenagers inflicting serious injuries with dangerous weapons is not something we’re used to hearing about in Northwich and this level of violence has shocked the community.
“Thankfully, while the injury was serious, it was not life threatening and the victim has made a good recovery.
“I hope the conclusion of this case will reassure the local community, as well as anyone who may have witnessed this traumatic event unfold.”
