Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins is a Pro Bowler after all.
He replaced the Baltimore Ravens’ Zay Flowers on the AFC squad:
Teammate Ja’Marr Chase expressed surprise back in December when Higgins originally missed the cut for the Pro Bowl:
Everything worked out in the end.
Bengals legend Chad Johnson was happy to learn the news:
This is the first Pro Bowl nod for Higgins. In 15 appearances, he caught 59 passes for 846 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns, which tied for the second-most in the league.
It was hard to find fault with the original voting results. In addition to Chase and Flowers, the Denver Broncos’ Courtland Sutton and Houston Texans’ Nico Collins rounded out the receiver group. They were the top four finishers in receiving yards in the AFC.
With Chase and Higgins both being Pro Bowlers, Cincinnati is at least seeing some return from spending more money on wideouts than any other team in the league.
The Bengals’ 6-11 record offers a counterpoint in terms of whether having Chase and Higgins average $69 million annually is actually the best use of the salary cap. The front office has quite a few areas of the roster to address this offseason.
