Ted told Netflix’s Tudum: “I’m so excited to see where Charles Nieuwendyk goes next.
“I’ve been blessed to work with Mike Schur for most of the last decade, and I’m still amazed by what he does.
“I’m incredibly thankful to him for creating this character and trusting me with him. The cast and crew make it very hard to call this ‘work.’
“Huge thanks to Netflix for believing in the show, and letting us keep this ride going.”
Meanwhile, showrunner Mike heaped praise on his “handsome” and “monstrously talented” leading man.
He added in a statement: “We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Netflix on another season of A Man on the Inside.
“It’s a true joy to work with this entire team, most especially the handsome, erudite, and monstrously talented Ted Danson, a true American treasure whose contract stipulates exactly what adjectives I am allowed to use while describing him in press releases.”
In the second season of the comedy, Charles going undercover to discover who had been blackmailing the president of a college.
Things were just as tense on set too, as Ted had a near death experience when a young co-star hurled a “huge handful” of flitter at his face for a scene on the show.
He told Collider: “I made this idiot mistake. The first time we had it, some student runs up, and I think it maybe was one of his first days at work ever as an actor.
“And he was timid, throwing it in my face, and it kind of went in my hair and missed my face, and we had to do it again, and I said, ‘Just really throw it right in the middle of my face,’ encouraging him to have a big, huge handful.
“I made the mistake of having my mouth open, and literally, they had to put umbrellas up around me so the rest of the world couldn’t see me trying to get it out of my mouth. So it got irritating as an actor, not just as a character.”
Mike added: “We were a little bit worried that he was gonna die – that he was gonna ingest too much glitter and this would be the end of Ted Danson. What an ignominious death that would have been.”
