Award-winning pianist Anli Lin Tong will perform a special musical program titled “Bells of Nagasaki: Music for Contemplation” at St. John Fisher Church, 5448 Crest Road, in Rancho Palos Verdes, at 2:30 p.m. This live musical performance commemorates the installation of the new bell at Nagasaki Urakami Cathedral in Nagasaki, Japan, in July. Manhattan Beach Community Church, 303 S. Peck Ave., presents “Unassisted Living,” featuring Fritz Coleman, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9. For more than 40 years, Coleman has regaled Angelenos with his hilarious takes on life and daily weather reports in a city that has no weather. Indivisible Arts presents “Flying Colors” at Resin Art Gallery, 618 Cypress Ave., in Hermosa Beach, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Experience immersive art like never before. This awe-inspiring, youth-led sound bath-meets-light show-meets-art installation takes passengers on a kaleidoscopic journey through the senses. As music and visuals converge, you’ll be taken on a multi-sensory journey inward, where digital projection transforms the walls of Resin Lab into windows of undulating cosmic geometry, and an original, genre-bending score blurs the boundaries between sound healing, psychedelic rock and electronic dance music. Torrance will host the 62nd International Surf Festival at Torrance Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach at 9 a.m. Friday, 6:45 a.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. Sunday. The three signature events for the festival will be the Judge Taplin Lifeguard Medley Relay, the Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier Swim and the Charlie Saikley 6-Man Volleyball Tournament. Other events will include a surfing contest, bodysurfing contest, beach run, paddleboard races, dory race and youth events. Admission is free. Information: surffestival.org.

Join Beach Cities Health District’s care managers Joy Schmidt and Rudy Diaz, in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, for a Dementia Caregiver Support Group in the cafe at 514 N. Prospect Ave., in Redondo Beach, at 2 p.m. every third Monday of the month. Information: bchd.org/support-groups.

Cancer Support Community South Bay, 2601 Airport Drive, Suite 100, in Torrance, offers a free workshop led by instructor Lily Hanna. Designed for adults, participants will be provided a space to learn, exchange ideas and connect. Each month features a different discussion topic geared toward food and mood categories. The Manhattan Beach Community Church Choir is starting up again, and rehearsals will take place at Manhattan Beach Community Church, 303 S. Peck Ave., from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays. The Hermosa Beach Veterans Memorial Committee is searching for new veterans in the community to carry on the stewardship of the Veterans Memorial site (Pier and PCH) during First-Saturday clean-ups. If you are a post-9/11 veteran, feel free to join. The group meets at 8:30 a.m. to clean the memorial and perform various tasks, such as flag exchanges and minor landscaping. The Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation seeks volunteer surf instructors to assist with lessons for its ocean therapy sessions serving at-risk youth, first responders, health care workers and veterans from the Los Angeles VA. Vintage movies, music on a historic Wurlitzer pipe organ and old-fashioned sing-alongs can be enjoyed at the Old Town Music Hall, 140 Richmond St., in El Segundo. This weekend’s features will be “Patsy” (1928) with organ accompaniment at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, and “Network” (1978) at 7 p.m. Saturday, and “Dancing Lady” (1933) at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3.
