The Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) has been actively promoting comic characters in Thailand to explore new opportunities.
Founded in 2019 by the Ministry of Culture, TAICCA supports the production, distribution and expansion of creative content, including music, comics and performing arts. It recently joined the Bangkok International Digital Content Festival (BIDC) 2025 at Samyan Mitrtown, where 18 branded characters were showcased to elevate the status of its cultural industry.
Su Shu-kuan, director of the International Business Department of TAICCA, expressed a commitment to international collaboration: “Joining BIDC 2025 gives a competitive edge on the global stage, especially in Southeast Asia.”
Thai fans may have previously seen some of the characters. For example, Space Cat Kuroro comes from a faraway planet and with his alien friends, he forms the Kuroro Space Exploration Team. Debuting in 2016, Kuroro has partnered with an airline, an animation company and a merchandise agency. In 2022, a Kuroro children’s book was published by Poplar in Japan and another was released in Taiwan in 2023 (both are available in Thai).
Meanwhile, Chimoz are a group of barefoot, hairy elves living underground. The team draws inspiration from local culture to create characters full of unique personalities.
Chimoz appears in a wide range of products including stationery, lifestyle items, NFTs and stickers.
Similarly, Taiwanimal features five characters from the “dream forest”. Lilu Deer has droplet spots on the body and heart-shaped patterns on the butt. He leads Gogo Bear, Sweet Cat, Raining Frog and Tomato Dog to explore the outside world. Appearing in a variety of events, the team has served as sustainability ambassadors for a wide range of green initiatives.
Last but not least, BalLoonMon lives in Sun Moon Lake and draws inspiration from the white deer in traditional legends. Although a symbol of good fortune, he never recognises his own value. Lacking confidence, he wears a large hat to cover his eyes to avoid being seen. He expresses himself through paintings to share his inner thoughts.
