The Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative used a life-size Snakes & Ladders format to explain how every informed vote moves democracy forward.
The event aimed to educate, engage, and motivate eligible citizens and students to participate in the upcoming bye-elections with responsibility and confidence.
Organisers framed the game as an analogy for civic choices and consequences.
Participants were reminded: “Choose your steps wisely — for every responsible vote shapes our shared future. Let’s climb the ladder of responsibility and avoid the pitfalls of ignorance.

Our voices matter; let’s make them heard.” The message highlighted individual agency in a collective process.
Therefore, the experiential setup encouraged students to connect voting behaviour with tangible outcomes for the community.
The program also featured sessions on voter awareness, ethical voting, and electoral preparedness.
Students engaged actively and pledged to spread awareness among peers and first-time voters. Meanwhile, facilitators reiterated that informed, ethical, and enthusiastic voting forms the foundation of a strong democracy.
Then, the agenda turned to practical readiness for polling day so participants could translate awareness into action.

A set of clear DOs and DON’Ts reinforced best practices for voters ahead of the bye-elections.
Attendees were urged to mark November 11, 2025, on their calendars for polling, verify their details via the Voter Helpline App or NVSP portal, carry valid ID to the booth, assist Persons with Disabilities and senior citizens, and vote independently without influence.
They were cautioned not to skip voting because it is a holiday, to avoid using mobile phones or cameras inside the booth, and to reject money or material inducements.
Also, the emphasis on accessibility and dignity signalled a voter-first approach aligned with democratic norms.
By using a familiar game to demystify the electoral process, the SVEEP program at St. Joseph’s Degree College demonstrated how creative formats can build voter literacy.
