
Two suspects have been named after alcohol was stolen from two supermarket branches. Hundreds of pounds worth of alcohol was taken from Asda on Centre Drive in Chorley and Tesco on Station Approach in Ormskirk in a series of incidents between September 2025 and January 2026.
Last week, police officers arrested a 41-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman on suspicion of theft from a shop. In an update this afternoon (Monday March 26), Lancashire Police said Sean Turner, 41 and Amie Stansfield, 35, both of Lewis Street, St Helens had been charged with 10 counts of theft from a shop.
Both have been bailed and will appear at Preston Magistrates Court on April 24, 2026.
In response to shoplifting across the county, Lancashire Police have launched Operation Vulture.
The operation sees dedicated officers undertaking hotspot patrolling, increasing their visibility in targeted areas and creating strong partnerships with retailers across the county to better share intelligence, get a deeper understanding of retail crime and identify more offenders.
