A recent survey by app-based research firm Tangere indicates growing public interest in blockchain technology and its potential role in government transparency.
The study found that 55% of Filipinos are familiar with blockchain, with 73% of those expressing confidence in its security. Awareness of the proposed “Blockchain the Budget” bill filed by Sen. Bam Aquino reached 89%, and among those aware, 85% said they support its passage. Meanwhile, 83% believe blockchain can help address corruption in the country.
When asked about the features they would like to see if the national budget were placed on blockchain, six to seven out of ten respondents pointed to transparency tools such as total allocation, actual expenses, and remaining budget.
The non-commissioned survey was conducted on September 4-5, 2025 in partnership with Bayanichain, a blockchain infrastructure company developing digital systems for enterprises, governments, and communities.
It gathered responses from 1,400 participants nationwide through a mobile application, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.57% at a 95% confidence level. Respondents came from Northern and Central Luzon (23%), NCR (12%), Southern Luzon and Bicol (22%), Visayas (20%), and Mindanao (23%).
