This funding round follows SuperGaming’s USD 5.5 million Series A in October 2021
Pune-based gaming company SuperGaming has announced the successful closure of its USD 15 million (approx. Rs 131 crore) Series B funding round, marking a significant step in its international expansion and technology development efforts.
The round brought in a mix of strategic investors, including a16z Speedrun, Bandai Namco 021 Fund, GFR Fund, IVC Japan, Neowiz (Korea), LOUD.GG (Brazil), Barings, and Steadview Capital. Participants from the Web3 ecosystem included Polygon Ventures, Sandeep Nailwal, Decentralised.co, 4th Revolution Capital, 32-Bit Ventures, King River Capital, Ryze Labs, Ed3n Ventures, Gabby Dizon, Santiago R Santos, Emfarsis, Cristian Manea, and Visceral Capital. Returning investors SkyCatcher, AET Japan, and BACE Capital also took part.
This funding round follows SuperGaming’s USD 5.5 million Series A in October 2021. The new capital includes both fresh investments and prior commitments from returning backers.
“The oversubscription and participation from existing investors reflect confidence in our tech-first strategy and ability to execute across both Web2 and Web3 ecosystems,” said Roby John, CEO and Co-Founder, SuperGaming.
SuperGaming plans to use the funds to scale its proprietary infrastructure platform, SuperPlatform, and expand its flagship title Indus Battle Royale into global markets, starting with Latin America in partnership with LOUD.GG. The company is also preparing to launch products in the Middle East later this year.
According to Sia Kamalie, Founder and Fund Manager, SkyCatcher, “Our first round was about scaling development capabilities and this round is now about scaling global and unique hyper-local publishing approaches. I’m excited about the multiple product launches the team has planned for Latin America and Middle East this year.”
Bandai Namco, one of the participating investors, emphasised the strategic fit between its global IP and SuperGaming’s regional insight. “Our investment in SuperGaming pairs Bandai Namco’s global IP expertise with the team’s deep understanding of India’s gaming ecosystem,” said Natsuhiro Maruyama of the Bandai Namco 021 Fund.
The company’s proprietary cloud-based SuperPlatform, developed in collaboration with Google Cloud, is a SaaS solution designed to support real-time multiplayer games on lower-end devices in emerging markets. It offers developers tools for AI-assisted development, monetisation, advanced analytics, and social systems.
SuperGaming’s expansion into Web3 continues through its partnership with B3 GameChain, a gaming-focused Layer-3 blockchain built on Base, the Ethereum Layer-2 incubated by Coinbase. This will allow SuperGaming to run games across both Web2 and Web3 environments.
The company’s previous Web3 experiments include Tower Conquest: Metaverse Edition, launched on Polygon, which allowed for digital asset ownership. Its existing title Silly Royale is now live on SuperGaming’s own Layer-3 Superchain, powered by B3.
Sandeep Nailwal, Co-Founder of Polygon Ventures, said, “Their momentum speaks volumes about the team’s passion and drive. But what excites me is how they understand the stakes: in gaming, the experience is the product, and the global bar for quality is incredibly high.”
SuperGaming has received international recognition for Indus Battle Royale, which won Google Play’s “Best Made in India” award in 2024. The company is also continuing development of its game engine technology, Indus Engine, alongside the SuperPlatform, both of which are aimed at supporting scalable game creation and live service operations.
Ed Fries, General Partner at 1UpFund and Co-Creator of Microsoft Game Studios, commented on the team’s delivery capabilities, stating, “In a market crowded with demos and pitch decks, SuperGaming has done what few others can, they have shipped. Launching a game, especially one as ambitious as Indus, is no small feat.”
CEO Roby John added, “We are at an inflection point where India’s role in gaming evolves from a consumer market to a driving force in innovation. This investment fuels that transition. Indus Battle Royale is just the beginning.”
