Early contributors to Sui Name Service (SNS) are gaining a significant governance boost through a newly launched retroactive airdrop, the project announced on Oct. 31, 2025.
Airdrop rewards over 95,000 early voters
The decentralized naming protocol, built on the Sui blockchain, has distributed approximately 7.6 million NS tokens to more than 95,000 eligible addresses. The rewards — matching the combined pools of the last five governance proposals — were issued as staked tokens, giving recipients immediate voting power upon receipt.
The retroactive airdrop rewards community members who participated in SuiNS DAO proposals between November 2024 and June 2025. Allocation was based on the number of proposals a user engaged with, their voting consistency, and how early they began participating — with earlier and more consistent voters receiving greater governance weight.
In contrast to most airdrops, there’s no claim or transaction required. Tokens are already visible through the SuiNS voting portal at vote.suins.io, eliminating both gas fees and phishing risks.
Strengthening identity and governance on Sui
Launched in 2024, Sui Name Service bridges wallet addresses, social identity, and governance by turning them into human-readable “.sui” domains. It has since evolved into a core identity layer for the Sui ecosystem, powering DAO voting, organization pages, and decentralized profiles.
Recent updates include staking incentives, sub-name communities, and integrations with SuiPlay and the Cetus decentralized exchange. Domain holders can also participate in upcoming identity-based reward programs and discounted premium domain auctions.
SuiNS described the airdrop as “just the beginning” of a broader initiative to link on-chain identity, governance, and reputation, forming the foundation for a community-driven digital identity framework across the Sui network.
