EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Eric Palmieri isn’t your average artist.
Palmieri actually uses pizza crust as his canvas to make eye-popping pie portraits at D. Palmieri’s Bakery in Johnston. He then takes photographs of his masterpieces, turns them into NFTs and sells them online to benefit charities close to his heart.
12 News has featured Palmieri twice on Street Stories, with his most recent appearance being highlighting his touching tribute to a late World War II veteran ahead of the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
In this week’s Street Stories Unpaved, hosts Johnny Villella and Mike Montecalvo ask Palmieri what he’s been up to since then and how he makes his masterpieces, as well as what it was like to meet and give a pizza to the late Hulk Hogan.
Palmieri even surprised Target 12 Investigator Tim White with a pie portrait that bears an uncanny resemblance.
Watch Street Stories Unpaved, Mondays at 3:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on the WPRI 12+ TV app.
