South Korea’s Upbit Adds USDT Support on Aptos Network – Blockonomi

The integration reduces reliance on cross-chain bridges, improving liquidity flow.

South Korea’s leading crypto exchange, Upbit, is set to support Tether (USDT) deposits and withdrawals via the Aptos network. This move positions Aptos alongside Ethereum and Tron as a supported USDT rail on the platform.

The addition aims to improve transfer speed and reduce fees for users transacting in stablecoins. With Upbit’s dominant market presence in Asia, this update could attract developers and traders seeking faster, cost-efficient alternatives.

The integration signals an important expansion for Aptos in the stablecoin ecosystem.

Upbit announced the update through an official notice, confirming that Aptos-based USDT deposits and withdrawals will begin on June 18 at 11:00 KST.

The exchange emphasized that users must create a new Aptos-specific deposit address, separate from Ethereum or Tron-based ones. Any attempt to use the wrong network address could result in failed transfers.

The exchange has set a minimum deposit of 3 USDT and a remarkably low minimum withdrawal amount of 0.000001 USDT. A fixed withdrawal fee of 0.1 USDT will apply for Aptos-based transfers.

These limits aim to ensure cost-effective transactions while maintaining security across the platform.

Industry watchers view Upbit’s integration of Aptos as a timely move that could drive capital inflows. AlvaApp noted in a tweet that this marks a bullish development for Aptos, given the ease and affordability it offers compared to more congested chains.

With Aptos now part of Upbit’s stablecoin infrastructure, it stands to gain traction among DeFi users.

Besides enhancing user access, the update also supports liquidity efficiency by reducing the need for cross-chain bridges. As a result, Aptos may see an increase in direct USDT activity, especially among traders who prioritize quick settlement and minimal fees.

With Aptos joining Ethereum and Tron on Upbit’s platform, trading volumes for Aptos-based assets could see a near-term rise. Analysts expect the integration to attract Korean traders and possibly spark global interest in Aptos-native assets.

This development adds weight to Aptos’s push into the broader stablecoin and DeFi markets. As more platforms onboard the network, Aptos could become a serious contender in hosting high-volume stablecoin transactions across Asia and beyond.
