Solayer has unveiled Solayer Travel, a new travel booking platform built on the Solana blockchain, exclusively for users of its Emerald Card. The platform enables crypto users to book accommodations at over 1 million hotels worldwide, offering discounts of up to 60% compared to mainstream travel sites.
According to a recent press release, Solayer Travel provides competitive hotel rates typically reserved for credit card rewards programs on platforms like Booking.com, Expedia, and Travala. By leveraging blockchain technology and wholesale pricing, Solayer aims to bring those same travel perks to the crypto space.
Solayer Travel is accessible only to holders of the Emerald Card, a Visa-backed crypto card introduced in April 2025. The card allows users to deposit USD Coin (USDC) and access a suite of services that bridge traditional finance with decentralized ecosystems—including currency exchange, ATM withdrawals, fiat on/off ramps, and wallet integration with Apple Pay and Google Pay.
As part of the platform’s rollout, Emerald Card users can now also create sub-cards for family members or employees, earning Emerald Reward Points on travel bookings made through the platform.
Solayer’s Head of Product, Joshua Sum, noted that travel spending has already surged among Emerald Card users since the platform’s debut on Solana.
“By unlocking wholesale hotel rates, Solayer Travel lets our cardholders stretch the same budget into more trips—or upgrade to stays they once thought were out of reach,” Sum said.
“With this launch, we’re making Emerald Card the premier crypto travel card.”
The initiative marks a significant step in blending DeFi utilities with real-world use cases, signaling Solayer’s ongoing efforts to build practical, crypto-powered financial tools.
How does Solayer Travel work?
To access Solayer Travel, users must first register for an Emerald Card by completing a Know-Your-Customer (KYC) verification process. Once approved, a virtual card is instantly activated on the user’s device and can be added to Apple Pay or Google Pay for immediate use.
After loading the Emerald Card with USD Coin (USDC), users can begin booking accommodations directly through the Solayer Travel platform. All payments are processed seamlessly via the Visa network, ensuring a familiar and secure checkout experience.
To support users throughout their travel journey, the platform also offers 24/7 access to live travel agents, who can assist with booking changes, cancellations, or any other inquiries.
Looking ahead, Solayer plans to evolve the platform into a comprehensive, end-to-end travel ecosystem. Future upgrades—slated for release in the second half of 2025—include support for global flight bookings, eSIM data packs, airport lounge access, and concierge services, positioning Solayer Travel as a one-stop hub for crypto-powered travel.
