Solana Mobile has officially started shipping its Seeker smartphones to customers in over 50 countries, marking the global launch of its second-generation web3 device.
Announced on Aug. 4 via X, the company revealed that tens of thousands of units are already on their way to users. The Seeker follows Solana’s first crypto-focused phone, the Saga, which had a slow start but later gained popularity due to lucrative token airdrops.
With over 150,000 pre-orders and a web3-forward design targeted at both developers and cryptocurrency power users, the Seeker arrives with more traction than the Saga.
Mobile-optimized dApps, token rewards, and built-in hardware wallet functionality
Designed specifically for the Solana blockchain, the Seeker comes preloaded with access to over 2,500 decentralized apps via the Solana dApp Store 2.0. Key features include a self-custodial hardware wallet powered by Solflare (Seed Vault), and a Genesis NFT that unlocks future airdrops, exclusive content, and reward programs.
The device also introduces TEEPIN architecture, which decentralizes security and app distribution at the device level—sidestepping many of the constraints of mainstream mobile platforms. Additionally, the Seeker will feature SKR, a native incentive token aimed at benefiting both developers and users, although full tokenomics details have yet to be released.
Priced between $450 and $500, the Seeker is expected to generate a minimum of $67.5 million in gross revenue for Solana Mobile.
A strategic move to attract developers and drive mainstream Web3 adoption
With the Seeker, Solana Mobile is aiming to attract developers frustrated by steep app store fees. Offering an open alternative to the walled gardens of Google and Apple, the Android-based OS supports app distribution through APKs and progressive web apps.
The launch comes as Solana’s DeFi ecosystem experiences strong momentum, boasting over $9.8 billion in total value locked and renewed excitement around memecoins like BONK. Combining an affordable price point with the promise of future airdrops—reminiscent of the Saga’s BONK airdrop that surpassed the device’s cost—the Seeker is positioned as a compelling option for crypto enthusiasts.
