
PHILIPPI, W.Va. (WBOY) — A sobriety checkpoint is planned for Barbour County this coming week, along with a saturation patrol in Marion County.
According to two separate press releases from the West Virginia State Police (WVSP) Fairmont and Philippi detachments, the sobriety checkpoint in Barbour County on Tuesday, Aug. 26, from 6 p.m. until midnight on US 250 at 16012 Barbour County highway in Philippi and further located roughly 1.4 miles north of State Route 38.
A few days later, WVSP will conduct a Saturation Patrol on Thursday, Aug. 28, also from 6 p.m. to midnight.
“This Patrol will be conducted in an effort to deter intoxicated driving in this area,” the release said. “It is not the intention of the West Virginia State Police to inconvenience any of the motoring public, but only to make the roadways safer for those traveling in West Virginia.”
The Philippi checkpoint may be moved to an alternate location if the primary location becomes unusable or unsafe.
