“So happy”: Nicki Minaj shows support as Kanye West apologises to Rabbi Pinto over past Antisemitic remarks

Nicki Minaj has shared her thoughts on Kanye West, aka Ye, apologizing to Rabbi Pinto about his antisemitic comments. Ye said that he wants to “take accountability” and said he was dealing with multiple things when he made those comments.

Kanye West has made numerous antisemitic remarks in interviews and on social media in recent years. He even praised Adolf Hitler in some posts on X (formerly Twitter) earlier this year. His comments have seen the likes of Adidas, Balenciaga, GAP, and even UMG (Universal Music Group) break ties with him over the years.

The rapper has now apologized for these comments to Rabbi Pinto. DJ Akademiks shared a video of their meeting on X on Thursday, November 6. Nicki Minaj quoted that video and wrote:

“So happy to see Kanye publicly take accountability for the pain his words may have caused to so many. Standing with our Jewish brothers & sisters.”

Ye, meanwhile, visited Rabbi Yoshiayao Yosef Pinto on Tuesday, November 4. Apologizing to him and the Jewish community, the rapper said (h/t Billboard):

“I feel really blessed to sit here and take accountability. I was dealing with various issues. I was dealing with bipolar also, so I would take the ideas I had and forget about the protection of the people around me and myself. So I wanted to take accountability.”

“So it’s like if you left the house and you left your kid at the house and your kid went and messed up the kitchen and messed up the garage and messed up the living room. Then when you get back, it’s your responsibility because that’s your job. That’s the way I look at it. It’s like I gotta go clean up the kitchen, I gotta clean up the living room, I gotta clean up the garage,” he added.

The Runaway singer said that he wants to apologize as the first step towards repairing his relationship with the Jewish community.

Following Ye’s apology, Rabbi Pinto also shared his thoughts, as shared in an Instagram post on his account on Thursday, November 6. He highlighted the strength required to choose to try to correct one’s mistakes, saying:

“A person is not defined by his mistakes, but by the way he chooses to correct them. This is the true strength of man: The ability to return, to learn, and to build bridges of love and peace.”

The Instagram post further added:

“Ye and Rabbi Pinto hope to serve as an example to the world of the power of faith and reconciliation.”

Kanye West has made numerous antisemitic remarks over the years, including sharing images of the Swastika, a symbol for the Nazis. He even attempted to sell t-shirts with a swastika on them on his Yeezy website earlier this year.

Along with losing out on brand deals, Ye’s X account was also suspended in 2022 following his comments. However, Elon Musk reinstated his account in July 2023.
