It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharon Ann Snooks of North Bay, Ontario, who passed away on June 22, 2025, at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice.
Sharon was born on December 11,1952 in Streetsville, and grew up in Shelbourne, Ontario.
In 1968, Sharon met Raymond, who would become her devoted husband and partner for 54 years. Raymond often described her as “the love of his life”. Through all of life’s ups and downs, he remained by her side. In her final years, as she bravely faced cancer, Raymond honored his vows with quiet strength and unwavering care, wishing only that they had more time together.
Anyone who knew Sharon would describe her as kind, generous, and stubborn in the best of ways. She gave freely of her time and heart, stood firm in her beliefs, and cared for those around her. Her presence left an impression, whether through a simple act of kindness or her unwavering determination.
In her younger years she was remarkably adventurous, even while managing the demands of a large family. One of her greatest aspirations was to learn how to fly and she eventually fulfilled that lifelong wish by taking to the skies in a small Cessna during a flight lesson.
She also had a love for travel which she was able to embrace more fully once her children had grown. Drawn by the beauty of the tropics, she found joy in exploring sunny destinations. The Bahamas held a special place in her heart not just for the beaches but for the cherished life long friends who lived there.
Anchored by her faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Sharon drew strength from her beliefs and from the spiritual community that uplifted and sustained her throughout her life. She was never afraid to speak her mind and stood firmly by her convictions, sharing her thoughts with passion, and a generous heart full of love, especially with her friends and her cherished congregation, whom she considered her family.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Raymond Snooks; her children, Darryl, Timothy (Rocelyn), Richard (Amanda), and Crystal (David); and her seven grandchildren: Kylie, Brendon, Makenna, Joshua, Vaelynn, James, and Joseph. She is also survived by her siblings, Marie, Brian, and Danny (Donna); her sisters-in-law, Myrtle, Shirley, Irene, Ruby, and Susan; and her brothers-in-law, Ruben and Ricky. Sharon also held a special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews, who were dear to her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Angela and Calvin Wiser; her brother, Clyde Wiser; her mother- and father-in-law, Thomas and Susannah Snooks; and her brothers-in-law, David Thibodeau, Guy Snooks, Hayward Snooks, and Austin Snooks.
A memorial service will be held on July 26, 2025 at 1:30 pm with a reception to follow. All who knew and loved Sharon are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
Her strength and enduring love will remain in our hearts forever.
