Six Flags Over Texas visitors, prepare to meet Tormenta Rampaging Run.
Thursday, Six Flags revealed the details of Tormenta, the world record-breaking rollercoaster coming to Arlington for the park’s 65th birthday in 2026.
The ride is coming to Six Flags Over Texas’ Spain area and is themed after the country’s Running of the Bulls Festival, with Tormenta meant to represent the most dangerous bull of them all.

“As we approach our 65th anniversary, we really wanted to do something special,” said Six Flags regional general manager of Texas Jeffrey Siebert. “And what better way to celebrate our 65th anniversary, … than to create a ride of such magnitude and scope that it will reignite the imagination and excitement of Arlington, of the metroplex, of the great state of Texas.”
Tormenta is a dive coaster, a type of rollercoaster characterized by its vertical drops and inversions. Tt will be the tallest dive coaster in the world at 309 feet, the company said. It will also be the fastest dive coaster, reaching speeds of 87 miles per hour, and the longest at 4,199 feet.

The focal point of the ride is a 95-degree “beyond vertical” drop of 285 feet. The path after features several twists and turns, including the world’s tallest vertical coaster loop at 179 feet and the highest Immelmann inversion at 218 feet.
Fort Worth company H3 Construction is building the ride using mostly local workers, with Swiss company Bollinger and Mabillard providing the engineering and design.
“As the world’s first giga dive coaster, Tormenta Rampaging Run introduces a completely new ride category, blending giga coaster heights with the fun and thrill of a dive coaster,” said Sophie Bolliger, president of Bolliger & Mabillard, in a statement.

The coaster comes just over a year after the merger of Six Flags and fellow theme park company Cedar Fair. Soon after the merger, Six Flags announced an ambitious $1 billion spending plan, with Texas parks as heavy beneficiaries.
Besides Tormenta, Six Flags Over Texas has undergone several renovations and additional theming, and will add a new restaurant, Cocina Abuela, to the Spain area, also in 2026.
As Tormenta approaches opening, Six Flags plans to hold more events as the project reaches critical milestones.
