KARACHI, Jul 22 (APP):Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday formally launched the Sindh Business One Stop Shop (SBOSS) a groundbreaking digital platform aimed at streamlining business registration and licensing processes across the province.

The launching ceremony was held at a banquet of CM House and was attended by Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Qaiser Shaikh, provincial ministers, secretaries, leading businessmen and others.

Speaking at the Go-Live Ceremony of SBOSS, the CM described the initiative as a “transformative moment for Sindh’s economy and governance,” and hailed it as a major step toward ease of doing business and private sector empowerment.

Shah announced that necessary legal measures are being taken to implement the Sindh Business One Stop Shop (SBOSS) system, aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business in the province.

Murad Shah pointed out that Pakistan was ranked 147th among 190 countries in the Ease of Doing Business index but has improved its position to 108th over the last three years. He emphasised the importance of focusing on industrial development, stating, “To bring prosperity to the country, we must pay attention to industrial growth.”

The CM further highlighted that the licensing process will now be conducted online, allowing direct applications to be sent to applicants, thereby streamlining the registration process. He remarked, “We need to operate at the pace of the world; otherwise, we will fall behind. Sindh will lead in this industrial development.”

Shah acknowledged the perception issues surrounding the Sindh government but stated that he is committed to focusing on work and modernising operations.

“Our government is determined to work in a contemporary manner, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of industrial progress in the country,” he concluded.

“SBOSS is more than a digital solution – it is a foundational reform in the structure of governance. Sindh is proud to be the first province in Pakistan to operationalise a comprehensive one-window system for business-related regulatory services,” Shah said.

Launched under the World Bank-supported CLICK Project, SBOSS offers 32 e-licensing services across nine key departments, with future plans to expand to over 130 regulatory and compliance services from 16 departments.

The platform is fully online, accessible 24/7 and is integrated with national systems including NADRA, SECP, 1LINK, and Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), enabling real-time ID verification and secure digital payments.

The system also leverages blockchain technology to ensure transparency, data integrity, and protection against forgery a first for any business facilitation portal in the country.

“Whether you’re a large investor or a small business operating from home, SBOSS guarantees fair, predictable and convenient access,” the Chief Minister noted, inviting entrepreneurs and industry leaders to make full use of the platform.

Shah emphasized that SBOSS aligns with the provincial government’s broader agenda of sustainable economic development, investment facilitation and the growth of Special Economic Zones through public-private partnerships.

He thanked the World Bank for its strategic support and lauded the Investment Department of Sindh and partnering agencies for delivering a reform of such magnitude.

The CM also announced that the next phase of SBOSS will include bringing all regulatory and licensing services online, establishing Business Facilitation Centers across the province, and launching a 24/7 Digital Contact Center to support users.

“This launch is only the beginning. We are building a future defined by innovation, efficiency, and shared economic prosperity,” he said.

The SBOSS platform is now officially live and accessible to users across Sindh.

Addressing the event, Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Shaikh said that SBOSS is a significant step towards facilitating business operations. “The federal government is committed to simplifying the issuance of business licenses to enhance the investment environment in our country,” he said.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah is actively working to promote business facilities in Sindh and his efforts are commendable, Mr Qaiser said. He added that the national currency is stabilising, and foreign exchange reserves are improving.

“Economic indicators are showing positive signs of growth, which is encouraging for all of us. During today’s programme, the first SBOSS license has been issued, marking a new beginning.,” he said.

The federal minister hoped that these initiatives would further strengthen the country’s economy and provide a safe and conducive environment for investors.

CM Special Assistant Qasim Naveed and the Secretary of Investment Raja Khurram Shahzad also spoke on the occasion.
