A Shenzhen university recently established a school dedicated to cultivating technology managers to assist in transforming technological achievements into productive applications, further enhancing technology transfer within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Inaugurated on Wednesday, the Technology Manager School of Shenzhen Technology University was founded in alignment with the country’s strategy to overcome bottlenecks in technology transfer.

A guideline issued by the central government on June 10 to deepen Shenzhen’s reforms encouraged the city to enhance the integration of industry with academic institutions, supporting universities and enterprises in jointly cultivating high-quality, interdisciplinary engineering talent.
In 2024, China’s valid domestic invention patents reached 4.76 million, making it the world’s first country to exceed 4 million patents. However, the industrialization rate of patents developed by universities was only 3.9 percent in 2022.

With a focus on cultivating practical skills, the curriculum of the Technology Manager School covers technology assessment, market analysis, capital operations, legal practices, and business management.
The school aims to serve as a collaboration platform to integrate scientific and innovative achievements across the Greater Bay Area and the entire country.

It will team up with entrepreneurs, financial experts and legal professionals to optimize the process of industrializing innovative outcomes.
The school will also collaborate with international institutions in Germany, the United States, and elsewhere to introduce recognized certification systems for technology managers, such as the Registered Technology Transfer Professional standard.
This year, it will offer a special program for 20 outstanding master’s students within the university. Each student will be paired with three mentors who will provide guidance in academic, financial, and industry knowledge.
