Scottie Pippen’s starting crypto line-up favors both major-cap utility altcoins & the top dog meme currencies.
NBA icon Scottie Pippen has just dropped a bombshell on X’s crypto community by naming his top picks for the second leg of the altcoin season. Forecasting a solid run in the second half of 2025, the Chicago-turned-Crypto Bull named the few selected crypto currencies that he thinks are next in line for a major uptrend.
Crypto Bull With A Bag Full Of Shiba Inu & XRP?
“Bitcoin is my #1 but I’m building my watch list. What coins are you watching?”, – Pip asked his fans, tipping on some of his crypto picks.
Intriguingly, this time both top dog meme coins made the list along with the major-cap altcoins. Fueling SHIB Army’s hype with a shoutout to Shiba Inu (SHIB), Scottie Pippen also paid homage to Dogecoin (DOGE), as well as his signature Game 5 Ball meme coin.
Ripple (XRP), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL) & Binance Coin (BNB) stood out as the top picks aside from Bitcoin (BTC), but the NBA legend also gave a shoutout to ADA, CRO & LINK. However, no blockchain records prove Scottie’s altcoin picks, nor he mentioned any specific numbers.
SHIB Or XRP: Which Got More Potential In 2025?
Based on the yearly performance so far, Ripple’s (XRP) 444% bull run has edged the broader market trends, even outpacing Bitcoin (BTC). Now, the question remains how much bull strength XRP coin has left for 2025. Truthfully, the OG altcoin continues to get rejected at the $2.35 confluent resistance levels for the past three months.
33% away from a new all-time peak, Ripple (XRP) could outperform the market once again if the market observers are right about an XRP-based exchange traded fund (ETF) launching this year. On the other hand, Shiba Inu (SHIB) has more upside potential in the short-term, as the meme coin was underperforming, reversing the 360% gains secured in late 2024.
As we can see in the graphic above, Shiba Inu’s (SHIB) price performance is trading way below the red-label Bollinger Band (BOLL), a significant price level for the bulls. Last December’s $0.000033 run was fueled with high trading volumes on a daily basis, while SHIB garnered just above $131 million today, a huge contrast from the multi-billion dollar trades during bull rallies.
