The pub boasts views as far as the Ribble Estuary, the coast and Blackpool Tower
A scenic pub in Blackburn has wowed judges as it took home the prestigious ‘Best Pub Food’ award for it’s ‘excellent’ menu.
The Grey Mare Inn on Elton Road, Belthorn, has been praised for it’s “high quality, perfectly executed and excellent choice of menu” at the Thwaites Hospitality Awards.
The pub, which offers homemade dishes and a plethora of drinks at a “fantastic price point”, is one of the highest pubs in England, sat on the moors of Lancashire and boasting spectacular views.
With a relaxed atmosphere that locals love to soak up, the Grey Mare is a dog friendly, traditional, award-winning pub which has won over visitors for 27 years.
The award ceremony – which was hosted by the Lancashire-based, family-run hospitality group Thwaites – involved 198 landlord and tenanted pubs who had a chance to win over thirteen categories, including the ‘Best Pint’, ‘Community Hero’, and ‘Best Investment’ accolades.
The rigorous judging process involved interviews, mystery visits and customer feedback as part of Thwaites’ seventh year running the awards.
Andrew Buchanan, Director of Pubs and Brewing at Thwaites, said: “Behind every great pub is a team of people who care deeply about what they do – and these awards are our way of saying thank you.
“It’s about recognising the passion, the hard work, and the moments of magic our teams create every day.
“This year’s finalists have gone above and beyond, and we couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved.”
