Conor McGregor reignited his war of words with Khabib Nurmagomedov just days after saying he’d undergone trauma treatment which led him to a near-death vision and a powerful encounter with God.
McGregor and Nurmagomedov famously quarreled throughout 2017, leading to a hostile clash atop the UFC 229 pay-per-view in which the Irishman won a rare round from the dominant Dagestan wrestler, before succumbing to a fourth-round submission loss via neck crank. Rather than burying the hatchet, Nurmagomedov jumped the fence of the cage and incited a near-riot Octagonside when confronting a member of Conor’s entourage, Dillon Danis. Hostilities have remained back-and-forth ever since.
Now, McGregor is on the attack once again, using social media to pour criticism on his old UFC rival for what he described as “scamming” his followers out of their hard-earned cash.

It all started with Nurmagomedov seemingly pushing NFTs (non-fungible tokens) of his famous Papakha hat on the messaging app Telegram. This message, according to reports, was later deleted and replaced with a new one suggesting the auctioning of these NFTs had finished. For McGregor, it was seemingly an excuse to prise money out of the fighter’s fans online.
“There is just no way ‘good guy Khabib’ used his late father’s name, as well as Dagestan’s culture, to scam his fans and fire-sell a bunch of digital NFT’s online, and then delete all the content after they were sold, leaving his fans robbed of their money?” said McGregor.
“There is just no way [a] good guy [would] do this.”
This sparked a near-immediate response from Nurmagomedov — or, at least, whoever was operating Nurmagomedov’s account at that time. “You absolute liar,” Khabib replied.
“You will always try to darken my name, after you got destroyed that night, but you will never achieve that! Yes, good guys don’t do that. They don’t create exclusive digital gifts with real time value, that you can share with your friends and family. Gifts in the shape of Papakha — [a] hat that symbolize traditions and culture of Dagestan people. Traditions slowly walking over this world, whether you like it or not!”
‘Scamming on Your Dead Daddy’s Name’
McGregor, though, was not done.
“Apologise this instant for using your late father’s name to sell these ‘gifts’ that cost your fans so much of their money.”
He added: “Also to sell something means it is not a gift, you low IQ troglodyte! That is the direct opposite of what “gift” means. Duh duh duh dumbass hahaha Scamming on your dead daddy’s name. Shame.”
Though McGregor has teased a comeback to the UFC, including an apparent desire to compete at the UFC’s big-ticket event planned for June, 2026 on the lawns of The White House in Washington D.C., to coincide with President Donald Trump’s birthday and the 250th birthday celebrations of the United States the following month, it’s unlikely this rivalry will lead to a rematch.
McGregor remains linked to Michael Chandler for his comeback.
