
BIRMINGHAMAla. — The Samford men’s tennis team returned to the win column Tuesday, posting a 4-3 victory over North Alabama in non-conference play at the Samford Tennis Center. With the result, the Bulldogs move to 3-2 on the season, while North Alabama remains winless.
The Bulldogs picked up momentum early by capturing the doubles point. Sandeep Mohandoss and Darcy Nicholls set the tone with a convincing 6-2 win, and Sebastian Harrison teamed up with Vitorio Sardinha for a hard-fought 7-5 decision to take the opening point for Samford.
Darcy Nicholls showed resilience to come back from a set down to beat Alberto Altur 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
In the middle of the lineup, Santiago Arredondo scored an immediate victory, 6-3, 6-2, over Alex Despoja. Lukas Dvorak also delivered a comeback performance, winning 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 against Benjamin Meyers to secure another point for the Bulldogs.
Samford’s ability to secure the doubles point and battle through several lengthy singles matches highlighted the team’s determination and depth throughout the home lineup.
Samford continues its non-conference schedule on Friday, February 6, with a road game against Kennesaw State. The first service is at noon in Kennesaw, Georgia.
