Safe Work Australia’s Research Summit brings together over 200 leading voices to discuss current research, emerging priorities and evidence gaps in work health and safety and workers’ compensation.

On 9-10 September, leading voices from academia, government, unions, industry bodies and employer groups will come together to collectively explore the Summit’s central theme: ‘How do we work together to design and deliver research that supports safe and healthy work?’

The 2-day program has been designed to foster active engagement and collaboration among participants – where everyone can contribute their subject matter expertise, boldly put forward their ideas, and explore emerging and persistent challenges in work health and safety and workers’ compensation.

The Summit is critical to achieve the goals of Safe Work Australia’s Research and Evaluation Strategy: driving thought leadership, building our evidence base, and ensuring this evidence base has national practical value.

Quotes attributable to Safe Work Australia CEO, Marie Boland

‘Australia is responding to new hazards and risks – driven by industry growth in emerging sectors of the economy, as well as shifts in the labour market and changes in how we work. As the national policy body for work health and safety and workers’ compensation, Safe Work Australia relies on high-quality evidence and data to inform the development of work health and safety laws and policies that can meet the challenges of today and the future.

‘Our Research Summit aims to reinvigorate the national conversation on work health and safety and workers’ compensation research and demonstrates our commitment to supporting research for safe and healthy workplaces.

‘The Summit is a chance for researchers, governments, unions, industry and employer groups to connect and build relationships that we hope will endure beyond the event itself.

‘I thank all participants for bringing their expertise, insights and experience to help shape our research agenda – one that ensures we stay ahead of emerging risks and hazards in the workplace.’
