A key topic was the joint participation of Romania and Greece in projects aimed at enhancing military mobility and interoperability across Southeastern Europe. Particular emphasis was placed on the NATO Military Mobility Corridor, a strategic initiative that will facilitate the rapid deployment of allied forces in the region. Both parties highlighted the importance of the NATO Battle Group stationed in Romania, led by France as the framework nation, in strengthening deterrence and defense posture on the Eastern Flank.
Minister Moșteanu also extended his congratulations to Greece for assuming the Presidency of the South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial (SEDM) Process for the 2024-2026 term, a leadership role previously held by Romania. He expressed confidence in Greece’s capacity to further consolidate regional defense cooperation through this format.
Moreover, the Romanian defense minister welcomed Greece’s commitment to act as framework nation for an EU Battlegroup in 2026, a role that reflects its increasing contribution to European security. Romania is set to support this initiative with both personnel and military equipment, underlining the deepening defense collaboration between the two nations.
This meeting reconfirmed the shared strategic vision of Romania and Greece and their active role in supporting NATO’s deterrence and defense posture in Southeastern Europe. source manpn.ro
