Residents in a Coventry neighbourhood are being urged to stay vigilant after reports of door-to-door cold calling. Scammers have reportedly been operating in Holbrooks.
Concerns have been raised that individuals posing as salespeople, charity workers or tradespeople are targeting unsuspecting households on Rotherham Road. Authorities are particularly concerned about vulnerable or elderly residents who are often primary targets and easily pressured.
Locals are being urged to take extra precautions when dealing with visitors who turn up unannounced. Safety tips include avoiding the sharing of personal or financial details and ensuring that anyone entering your home is verified by asking for ID.

Anyone who witnesses suspicious behaviour or feels threatened by someone knocking at their door is encouraged to report it immediately via 101. Neighbourhood groups are also being asked to stay alert and share any relevant information on Facebook.
A spokesman for Coventry Police said: “We have been made aware of possible door-to-door cold calling off Rotherham Road. Salespeople, charities, rogue traders and scammers often do this.
“If you are not expecting a visitor, please do not fully open your door, use a door chain and speak through or use a window. Never share personal or financial information at the door, and above all, do not let them into your home.
“If you have been visited by a cold caller and they seem aggressive or suspicious, call 101, or if you feel threatened, 999. Rogue traders and scammers can also be reported to Trading Standards via Citizens Advice and Action Fraud.”
