Video game platform Roblox (RBLX) is looking to expand its user base by attracting more adults. Speaking on Yahoo Finance, CEO David Baszucki said that the platform’s age-verified 18-and-up segment is growing more than 50% year-over-year, which he views as a strong signal for future growth. In fact, Roblox recently beat expectations with Q4 bookings of $2.2 billion, a 55% year-over-year increase. In addition, the company is forecasting revenue growth of 23% to 29% for 2026, suggesting that the strategy is gaining traction.

A major driver of this transition is Roblox’s new age-verification system, launched in January, which uses facial recognition through a partnership with Persona. Once verified, users are grouped by age to create a more controlled environment that appeals to advertisers and older players. Investors welcomed the news by sending the stock surging, as Roblox proved that it can diversify beyond the under-18 audience.
Interestingly, Baszucki said that the company is leaning on familiar “cultural hits” while also expanding into higher-monetizing genres like role-playing and sports games for adults. At the same time, Roblox is using artificial intelligence to improve its creator ecosystem rather than replace it. While competitor stocks were shaken by new AI tools from Alphabet (GOOGL), Baszucki said that Roblox already runs more than 400 internal AI models to help creators build better content and support large-scale multiplayer experiences.
