Ripple is advancing multichain interoperability by integrating Wormhole, a leading cross-chain messaging protocol, into the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and its EVM-compatible sidechain. Announced Thursday, this strategic move enables seamless transfer of XRP and tokenized assets — including stablecoins and real-world assets (RWAs) — across more than 35 supported blockchains like Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche.
This integration meets growing institutional demand for interoperable blockchain infrastructure, minimizing friction in asset transfers. Wormhole’s cross-chain messaging also allows developers to execute smart contract interactions across multiple networks, facilitating the creation of scalable, compliance-first decentralized applications (dApps).
Ripple CTO David Schwartz emphasized the importance of interoperability for mainstream adoption, stating that infrastructure must extend beyond a single chain. With Wormhole, assets issued natively on XRPL can now move freely between chains while preserving native controls and issuance frameworks.
The XRPL is emerging as a key hub for institutional finance and tokenized RWAs. For instance, Dubai’s first real estate tokenization platform, built on XRPL, enables investors to purchase fractional ownership in property and tokenize title deeds directly on-chain.
Ripple is also expanding its stablecoin presence. Its regulated Ripple USD (RLUSD), available on both XRP and Ethereum networks, currently has a circulating supply of $400 million, according to rwa.xyz.
By bridging XRPL to a broader Web3 ecosystem, Ripple enhances its position in the evolving multichain economy, aiming to deliver low-cost, fast-settlement blockchain solutions for enterprises and developers worldwide.
