Singapore cements its status as Asia’s $750M blockchain innovation hub.
Ripple, a major name in blockchain and crypto solutions, is taking another big step to boost blockchain talent in Asia. The company has announced a new partnership with Tenity, a well-known global fintech incubator. Together, they are also establishing an XRPL Accelerator that will assist novice startups to develop on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The information was shared by Ripple on its official X account, indicating how serious this move is to the international plans of Ripple.
This is another round of initiatives when Singapore is still at the forefront as a global destination of blockchain. In 2024, the sector raised an estimated USD 750 million in investment alone in Singapore. This was approximately 60% of the total investment in fintech in the country. With over 300 crypto and blockchain companies, Singapore is now creating a launchpad to ideas that usually propagate across the globe.
To prop up the solidify this status, the new XRPL Accelerator is to be launched in September of 2025. It will take place twice a year and will open its doors to startups along with teams of even large businesses who would like to consider blockchain solutions. The most attention will be paid to the tokenization of real-world assets, institutional DeFi, and the convergence of AI and blockchain. This implies that the participants will be able to work on the ideas that can enhance the modernization of the industries as they experiment with new technology.
Real support will be provided to the startups that will enter the program. The funding of up to USD 200,000 being provided by Ripple and Tenity is non-equity funding. What this implies is that the startups retain full ownership of their ideas. Together with funds, they will receive mentorship from the best experts and access to the vast network of investors and partners of Ripple all over the world.
Fiona Murray is the Asia-Pacific Managing Director of Ripple. She believes this new program will help build a new generation of blockchain talent. She says Singapore is the right place for this project. This is because the country supports digital innovation and has a forward-thinking mindset. She explains that this program can open big opportunities within the XRPL. In addition, it can bring real value to companies and people in Asia.
Government leaders in Singapore agree. Philbert Gomez, Senior Vice President and Executive Director of Digital Industry Singapore, explains that the city-state is racing to develop a sandbox of responsible innovation. He feels that accelerators such as the XRPL Accelerator are very useful to startups who can use them to acquire the tools, expertise, and connections they require to take new blockchain concepts and turn them into actual solutions that are also compliant.
This new program will be the second step of a long collaboration with Ripple in the case of Tenity. Jonas Thurig, the Managing Partner at Tenity, described the accelerator as something bigger than a startup boot camp. He stated that it is a launching pad of ambitious ideas that can transform finance, make real-world assets more accessible, as well as to look at the connection developments between AI and blockchain.
