A committee headed by the Director General (Acquisition) reviews the Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) 2020 to align it with government policies. A high-powered panel led by the Director General (Acquisition) has been formed to review and refine the Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) 2020. This effort seeks to synchronize with current government policies, ensuring a cohesive approach to modernizing India’s armed forces and bolstering national security, officials disclosed on Thursday.
The Ministry of Defence emphasized the necessity of timely updates to the DAP to meet operational requirements while aligning with the government’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative and ‘Make in India’. The initiative aims to foster Indian industry’s global presence as a manufacturing hub by 2025.
Former bureaucrat Apurva Chandra is appointed as Principal Advisor to the committee, which includes defense industry stakeholders and government representatives. The panel, seeking input from various stakeholders, will incorporate new technologies and refine processes to promote indigenization and facilitate technology transfer through joint ventures, enhancing India’s self-reliance in the defense sector.
