Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Nick Lodolo left Monday’s win over the Cubs in the second inning with a blister on his finger.
After the game, Lodolo spoke with reporters and provided an update on his finger.
“It really kind of just came up,” Lodolo said. “The pitch to Castro, I struck him out, didn’t feel anything. I threw a slider to Turner and with felt like the skin ripped on my finger. When I looked down, there was a bubble under there and a whole bunch of fluid. Before I throw another pitch and rip it, I thought it was best to stop because I’ve done that in the past and it takes a lot longer to heal.”
Lodolo was asked if he thinks it will take any time on the injured list.
“I don’t know,” he continued. “There are a lot of things they need to figure out as well. We will know more tomorrow about it.”
Reds manager Terry Francona said he’s already doing better, but they’ll likely be cautious.
The Reds beat the Cubs 3-2 to improve to 59-54 on the season.
