
Police have explained why unusual ‘little Daleks’ have appeared inside the Tesco Extra store in Bedworth. The two eye-catching pods have been placed in the foyer at the store in Leicester Street-based store.
They say that they are *Safer POD S1 units which are able to provide 24/7 CCTV monitoring as well as panic alarms for staff safety and will alert police if tampered with. The team shared an image of the pods on the Nuneaton and Bedworth Police page on Facebook.
It led to a flurry of comments from locals with one describing them as ‘little Daleks’ due to their resemblance to the fictional aliens in Doctor Who. But there were other more serious comments about whether they will have an impact on the well-known issues regarding anti-social behaviour at the store.

Police say they are aware of the issues and have been carrying out work with staff in the store to try and tackle them, as well as identify those responsible. In the Facebook post, the team say that the aim of the pods is to ‘reduce anti-social behaviour and shoplifting’.
“If you spot these pods, know they’re there to keep everyone safe,” the team said. If you hear of damage or tampering, please report it staff immediately. It will catch them
