After a period of due diligence and consultation, Mr Alhamad had acquired the club for an undisclosed fee.
The club’s directors formally agreed to Mr Alhamad’s acquisition at a board meeting on June 17. His purchase of the club now awaits approval from the Football Association and the National League.
Mr Alhamad was educated across the Atlantic at the University of Utah, earning his bachelor’s degree in management in 2003. He also holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the Gulf University for Sciences and Technology.
The Kuwaiti investor maintains a profound involvement in Cryptocurrency too, recognised by the University of Oxford as a certified Blockchain Strategist.
In Kuwait, he is an acting board member of Alwatya United Real Estate Co. Mr Alhamad remains involved in investment policy, sustainable growth and acquisition, capabilities he aligned with his intentions in Salisbury.
“Building slowly, systematically, organically, with the social media, the commercial, the sponsors and the fans. Of course, they are the centre of all this. If we get that, then we begin to elevate together. That is the goal,” he explained.
“Social media is king”, he insisted. “The potential of getting sponsors here in Salisbury is limited; there’s a ceiling to it. But once you open that to the world, we can have people in China following the club, in Kuwait, the Arab world. English-speaking nations, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese.”
Could awareness of Salisbury FC soon reach Madrid? Riyadh? Beijing? Mr Alhamad believed so. He also spoke about the fans and their expectations of him.
“They will be comforted, I hope, once the season starts and they see the signings and the players. Then, excitement will start to build.”
