New Delhi: A viral video featuring Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan has taken social media by storm amid the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. After Afghanistan’s close eight-run defeat against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi, Rashid was seen engaging in a heated exchange with umpire Faisal Afridi as players exited the field.
The clip hinted that he was upset with a teammate for speaking to Afridi, though there has been no confirmation yet. Social media users, however, alleged that Rashid misbehaved with the 47-year-old former First-Class cricketer.
Talking about the match Nasum Ahmed’s sensational spell guided Bangladesh to a win over Afghanistan and kept their Asia Cup campaign alive. Batting first in Abu Dhabi, Bangladesh posted a total of 154 on the scorebaord, with opener Tanzid Hasan shining through with a brisk 52 off 31 balls.
Nasum, along with fellow spinner Rishad Hossain, picked two wickets respectively, while pacer Mustafizur Rahman impressed with figures of 3 for 28 as Afghanistan were bowled out for 146. Taskin Ahmed also grabbed two wickets sealing the innings with the final delivery of the match.
Bangladesh will advance if Sri Lanka secures a win, but an Afghan victory would allow them to move forward, leaving Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to be separated based on net run rate.
While talking about the toss, Rashid said, “We were in the game until the end. Until I got out, we were there, but we just couldn’t finish it up. I think 30 runs in 15 balls nowadays is very achievable, but at that time, we put a lot of pressure on ourselves and couldn’t execute our shots well.”
“It is a crucial time, especially in the Asia Cup, where you have very few games, and each game is quite important for us. The next game is a big one against Sri Lanka. We need to be well-prepared. We need to learn from our mistakes and be strong mentally, and that’s going to be a challenge for all of us,” he added.
