Rangers have been urged to pursue deals for Stuart Findlay and Cammy Devlin following their 2-1 defeat to Hearts on Sunday.
The Ibrox side saw their hopes of mounting a Premiership title challenge take another blow at the weekend, as goals from Findlay and Lawrence Shankland proved decisive.
Danny Rohl’s side were let down by goalkeeper Jack Butland and went winless for a third time in their last five league games, while also suffering their first Premiership defeat since the German’s appointment in October.
Currently trailing table-toppers Hearts by 12 points, Rangers have been advised to target their city rivals next year in a double free-transfer move.
Rangers Urged to Move for Findlay and Devlin
Writing on X, journalist Jonny McFarlane urged Rangers to move for Findlay and Devlin in January and secure the pair on pre-contract deals.
The Hearts duo, who were also praised as ‘the league’s best players’, are out of contract at the end of the season and could join their next clubs for free at the end of June.
Both Devlin and Findlay have been key for Hearts in their remarkable Premiership campaign and are the only two players to have started every league game under head coach Derek McInnes.
Findlay, who is on loan at Tynecastle Park from Oxford United, has scored four times for Hearts this term, including a towering header past Butland in the 2-1 win on Sunday.
While Devlin has yet to register a goal contribution, the Australian central midfielder has been irreplaceable for McInnes as well.
However, the 27-year-old was quoted this week as saying he is no closer to agreeing a new contract beyond next summer, although talks are believed to be progressing regarding an extension.
Rangers Eyeing Move for Hjerto-Dahl
Rangers are anticipating a busy first transfer window under Rohl in January and are believed to be targeting midfield reinforcements.

As GIVEMESPORT revealed previously, the Ibrox side are among the clubs showing interest in Norwegian midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl, along with Premier League side Sunderland.
The 20-year-old, who plays for Tromso, emerged as a standout performer in the Eliteserien last season, registering four goals and four assists in 30 appearances.
The midfielder, who is under contract until 2027, is not expected to command a significant fee next month, with several clubs positioning themselves early for a move.
