President Cyril Ramaphosa has called for a gendered approach to be integrated into all government policies and decisions in South Africa. In his latest newsletter, he emphasized that no policy should be made without considering its impact on women, who constitute over half of the country’s population.
Speaking ahead of the National Dialogue’s first convention in Pretoria on Friday, Ramaphosa highlighted the need for women to take a central role in the process. The dialogue, set to begin during Women’s Month, aims to address key national challenges, and he urged all sectors of society to ensure women’s full participation.
Ramaphosa stressed that women are affected by every political, social, and economic issue facing South Africa. He advocated for consistently applying a “gendered lens” to both challenges and solutions, reflecting the historical struggles of women in the country.
The president encouraged active participation from women at the convention, noting their voices are essential to shaping effective and inclusive policies.
