An announcement of ProBit Global, a popular cryptocurrency exchange, shows that they have already completed the Polygon (POL) network hardfork. The update is a major one that aids in making Polygon faster and more secretive. The network upgrade occurred at the beginning of the morning on September 17, 2025 (00:37 UTC, or 06:07 AM IST). And since then, consumers could again deposit and withdraw POL tokens on ProBit Global. This hardfork is a part of the larger project of the Polygon team to upgrade the system. It introduces emerging technology which helps the transactions to be faster and secure.
zkRollup is an acronym, which translates to Zero-Knowledge Rollup. The concept of having a large number of transactions and recording them to Ethereum blockchain is convenient. Instead of the transactions being processed individually on a case by case basis, many are put together. This both saves time and money.
More importantly, zkRollups use special cryptography. This helps in ensuring secrecy of transactions. Users need not bother about exposing their information. Chainlink reports that the practice is widespread and becoming one of the significant aspects of modern blockchains.
Polygon’s token is called POL. As of the beginning of September 2025, 10.5 billion POL tokens had to be in circulation. The new upgrade allows staking of tokens to the POL holders.
