US chemical group Chemours (Wilmington, Delaware; http://www.chemours.com) has announced that Damián Gumpel is leaving the company after having taken over as head of the titanium dioxide business just at the start of the year. Michael Foley has been tapped as Gumpelâs successor, starting February 2026. Group CEO Denise Dignam will head the division in the interim.
Chemours is looking back at a difficult year. Its titanium dioxide business has not been doing well, and the company is facing high compensation payments due to PFAS-related environmental damage. The group has repeatedly issued profit warnings as a result.

Foley has worked for US chemical group Momentive Performance Materials (Waterford, New York; http://www.momentive.com) for over 30 years, currently heading the Formulated Specialities segment. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
