NSW Premier Chris Minns has hinted next year’s state election will be his last as leader, revealing he will not “be here” for the following election in 2031.
Asked about his dreams for Sydney’s MetroWest project, Mr Minns said on Monday: “Well, I won’t be here, at least in this role, but look, as a citizen, I hope, I genuinely hope, that we can make a massive impact in housing affordability for young people.”
Grilled on his comments about his future as leader, Mr Minns – who elevated Labor into government after it spent more than a decade in opposition – added: “I don’t know what the future holds. I might get beat in 2027.”
NSW residents are set to return to polling booths on March 13 next year.
More to come.
