A popular post-punk musician is taking to the stage in Pocklington next year.
John Robb, founder of Louder Than War, will bring his talents to the Pocklington Arts Centre on May 28, 2026.
Raised in Blackpool, Robb found inspiration in punk rock and created The Membranes.
This influential post-punk band is recognised for its innovative music, including the addition of choirs and new textures in their albums.
Apart from his contributions to music, Robb is a salutary figure in journalism, having begun as a fanzine writer with Rox.
He later wrote for the rock press with Sounds in the 1980s, where he conducted interviews with major bands, including the first one with Nirvana.
He is credited with coining the term ‘Britpop’ and was pivotal in documenting the ‘Madchester’ scene.
Robb also stands as a best-selling author, broadcaster, and eco-champion.
His memoirs, set for release in 2026, are anticipated to mirror the success of his previous works.
These include Live Forever: The Rise, Fall and Resurrection of Oasis, and Manifesto (2022), which he co-authored with Dale Vince.
Today, his website LouderThanWar.com is celebrated for supporting new artists such as Fontaines D.C. and Charli XCX before anyone else.
Tickets are available at pocklingtonartscentre.co.uk.
