ONE of York’s best loved restaurants – with eateries across the city – is to open another venue in December.
Award-winning Ambiente already has three restaurants in York as well as sister outlets in Leeds and Hull.
From December, it will be opening its popular tapas-style dining experience full of the flavours of Spain at the Flemingate Shopping Centre in Beverley.
Tim Sinclair, founder of Ambiente Tapas, said the new restaurant would cater for up to 120 guests on a single, fully-accessible floor, which would also offer the opportunity to enjoy al fresco dining on a large outdoor terrace.

He said the new restaurant “continues Ambiente’s established approach to dining: ingredient-led, quality-driven and customer-focused.”
Guests, he added, could expect the group’s Spanish-inspired menu and drinks list, alongside dishes cooked over a Spanish charcoal oven – a grill capable of reaching temperatures up to 500°C to deliver rich, smoky flavours.

“We’ve spent the last few years consolidating and refining our operation, in a challenging market,” he added.
“Now, we’re eager to bring Ambiente’s signature style of hospitality to Beverley.
“We’re convinced that our combination of thoughtfully curated tapas dishes with quality Spanish wines, delivered by a knowledgeable and friendly team will make Ambiente a welcome addition to the local dining scene.”
The Beverley opening follows Ambiente’s success in York, Leeds, and Hull, and represents the next chapter in the group’s steady expansion across Yorkshire, he added.
The business already has two Ambiente Tapas restaurants in York, in Fossgate and Goodramgate, as well as the popular Tabanco by Ambiente in Walmgate.

The business has grown substantially since its first tapas bar opened in Malton in 2007 – a time when Yorkshire was pretty much a tapas-free zone.
Three years later in 2010, the business moved from Malton and opened its first York Ambiente in Goodramgate. Two years on, it expanded into Leeds, launching in The Calls, and in 2014 opened a second York spot in Fossgate.
