Pop star Yeison Jiménez and his entire band killed in horror plane crash hours before concert in ColombiaAmy LeeThe NightlyMon, 12 January 2026 6:15AMCommentsComments

Pop star Yeison Jiménez and his entire band have died in a horror plane crash just weeks after the singer revealed he’s had several dreams in which he predicted his aircraft would kill him.

Jimenez, 34, was flying to a concert in Colombia’s second-largest city, Medellin, on Saturday, when the plane carrying him and five of his musicians crashed and burst into flames moments after takeoff from Paipa Airport, in central Colombia.

The musician’s team confirmed the tragic news in a statement shared on social media on Sunday.

“With our hearts in our hands and a pain impossible to describe, the organisation and work team of Yeison Jiménez deeply regret to inform of his passing,” the post, which was translated from Spanish to English, read.

“Today, we do not only say goodbye to an artist; we say goodbye to a son, a brother, a friend, a human being full of dreams and courage, who turned his story into hope for thousands of people. Yeison was perseverance, discipline, and love for his people.”

In a chilling twist, the folk music artist who is one of the most popular singers in Latin America, had recently opened up about his eerie dreams about dying in a plane crash.

“I dreamt three times that we were going to have a plane crash and that I had to tell the pilot to turn around. And when he arrived, he’d say, ‘Oh boss, thank goodness you told me because something went wrong, but I fixed it, get in,'” Jiménez said in an interview with Colombian TV station Caracol, according to the New York Post.

“Those were the dreams. And in one of the dreams, I did dream that we had died and that we were on the news. And it was the third time I dreamt that. God gave me three signs, and I didn’t understand them, I didn’t get them,” he added.

In the same interview, the Colombian singer revealed he had been involved in an emergency landing involving the same aircraft 10 days before his son was due to be born.

He said the aircraft began to rock after takeoff, and his cameraman noticed water coming out of the engine.

“The plane takes off, and as it takes off, I feel something go puff, puff,” he recalled.

“There was no speed, we weren’t climbing.”

The tragic accident is now under investigation, Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed.

“The Civil Aeronautics Authority deeply regrets the accident that occurred in Paipa, Boyacá, in which six occupants of the N325FA aircraft died, including the artist Yeison Jiménez. We express our most sincere condolences to their families, friends, and fans,” a statement read.

The singer-songwriter rose to fame in 2015 after the release of his first album Con El Corazón. He went onto produce eight albums and over 70 songs.

He is survived by his wife Sonia Restrepo and three children.
