Federal Minister Khalid Magsi has said that pollution remains the biggest challenge to Pakistan’s health, environment, and economy, stressing the urgent need for collective efforts to tackle climate change and restore the natural balance.
Speaking at an event, the minister noted that Pakistan is among the countries most affected by climate change. He highlighted that melting glaciers and extreme weather patterns pose a serious threat to the country’s agriculture-based economy.
Magsi emphasized that students, teachers, and young scientists are the real drivers of change, adding that a sense of ownership of the country is the foundation of national development. “Government policies are important, but the future is linked to the ideas and actions of the youth,” he said.
He further stated that reducing pollution and promoting renewable energy and afforestation are vital steps to mitigate the impacts of climate change. “Young people must play a frontline role in the campaign against climate change,” the minister added.
Khalid Magsi also praised the role of the Pakistan Science Foundation in promoting scientific thinking and research, stressing that sustainable progress requires joint efforts from all sectors of society.
