The Congress party is set to kick off its campaign for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections with a major rally in Barnala. The event, titled “MNREGA Bachao, Kisan Bachao,” will be attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi, who are scheduled to address a large public gathering. The rally is primarily being organized to protest against alleged attempts to weaken or end the MNREGA law, which the party claims is crucial for rural employment and farmers’ welfare.
