
ICI asks Ombudsman to probe ex-DPWH chief, several others over P72M Bulacan flood project
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Tuesday said thousands of people affected by Typhoon “Tino” in Cebu and other areas have been provided assistance after all its chapters in the province were placed on full alert.
As of noon on Tuesday, PRC’s Emergency Response Units (ERU) have assisted a total of 179 individuals, mostly in Southern Leyte, Gingoog City, and Cebu.
Its Safety Services operated four first aid stations in Masbate, Siargao Islands, and Gingoog City, served 95 individuals; and facilitated the safe transport of an emergency childbirth case in Cebu.
Meanwhile, through its Health Services, PRC conducted disease prevention sessions for 310 people in Capiz, distributed doxycycline to 15 individuals in Southern Leyte, and handed out face masks and bottled water in Negros Occidental.
As for welfare support, six welfare desks were set up in Boracay-Malay, offering psychological first aid to 70 people and serving 1,642 hot meals to affected families. Hygiene promotion sessions also reached 310 evacuees in Capiz to help prevent waterborne diseases.
